Combining Alfredo sauce and marinara sauce in one dish might seem unconventional, but it can create a unique and flavorful pasta dish. Here’s a simple recipe that I used to make this dish. Add your protein of choice (or not) but I used grilled chicken for mine.
Ingredients:
For the Alfredo Sauce:
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: minced garlic or garlic powder for flavor
For the Marinara Sauce:
- 2 cups marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the Pasta:
- 12 oz (about 340g) fettuccine or your preferred pasta
- Salt for boiling water
For Garnish:
- Chopped fresh parsley or basil
- Grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
- Prepare the Alfredo Sauce: In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. If using minced garlic, sauté it in the butter until fragrant, about 1 minute. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Allow it to heat through without boiling. Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Keep warm on low heat, stirring occasionally.
- Prepare the Marinara Sauce: In a separate saucepan, heat the marinara sauce over medium heat. Stir in the dried oregano, dried basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. Allow the sauce to simmer for about 5-10 minutes to let the flavors meld. Adjust seasoning as needed.
- Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and return it to the pot.
- Combine the Sauces and Pasta: Pour the prepared Alfredo sauce over the cooked pasta and gently toss to coat. Pour the marinara sauce over the Alfredo-coated pasta and gently fold to create a marbled effect. The combination of sauces will create a unique flavor profile.
- Serve: Divide the Alfredo Marinara Pasta among serving plates. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley or basil and grated Parmesan cheese.
- Enjoy: Serve the Alfredo Marinara Pasta immediately while it’s still warm. The creamy Alfredo sauce and the tangy marinara sauce will create a delightful contrast of flavors.
