I can’t stop with these bread recipes! I wanted to try this braided bread, it was not perfect, but a good attempt! This is a great appetizer or snack to share with friends. It tastes so delicious and is quickly read to serve! The bruschetta and black truffle dipping oil (you can use any) really helps as a side to this bread.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups Italian Flour
- 1 tsp Yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1.5 lukewarm water
- In a very large bowl, add all your ingredients and mix it around in the bowl until everything starts to stick together (it’s okay if it looks really sticky & wet). Place a plastic wrap above the bowl and let it sit for 12-24 hours. The longer you wait, the better results you’ll get. Keep it in a warm & humid place for the best results.
- Once 12-24 hours have passed, the dough should have risen and should look wet and sticky. Take the dough (if it sticks, apply more flour to your hands) and form a baguette shape and break into 3 separate sections. Roll them out so they’re long and skinny. This is a the tricky part. Align the three pieces together and start braiding the bread (same way you braid hair). Join the three ends together at the end.
- Make sure to score the top with a sharp knife after placing the bread in a tray. Gently cover the bread with a towel and let the dough rise for 1-2 hours in a warm place.
- Preheat the oven to 450 degrees and fill a deep baking pan with 2 cups of hot boiled water, and place it on the lower rack, inside your oven. This will make the bread crispy on the outside. Place the bread on the middle rack. Remove water from the oven after 10 minutes. Keep on baking the bread for another 30 minutes or until golden crispy brown.
- Take the bread out of the oven and let it cool. I added basil, butter, pepper, salt & Italian seasoning on top. Enjoy your crispy on the outside and soft & fluffy on the inside bread!
I bought black truffle oil to use as a side dip, feel free to use any kind of dipping oil. In another bowl i added basil leaves, salt, mozzarella balls or chunks, pepper, garlic minced, 2 dices tomatoes, 1 tbsp olive oil (optional). Mix all together and enjoy your two side dips with the bread! Don’t forget to subscribe if you haven’t already and leave a comment below.
