Spicy Chicken Tikki

This was my first attempt in making this from scratch. Minced chicken is great because you can make so many things out of it. Here is one of the awesome dishes I enjoyed making. One thing I would definitely do is add more salt. Other than that, it tastes great. To find the recipe for the cilantro dip, click here. Here is the link to the board and more ideas.

Side sauces used: cilantro dip, mayo siracha, & sweet spicy sauce (maggi)

Ingredients:

  • 1 chicken breast
  • 1 chili
  • 1/4 cup onion diced
  • 1/4 cup cilantro
  • t tsp turmeric
  • 1-2 drops red food coloring
  • 1 egg beaten
  • Bowl of breadcrumbs (for coating optional)
  • 3 tbsp salt + 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tbsp chili poweder
  • 1 1/2 tbsp garam masala
  • 1 1/2 tsp meat masala
  • Squeeze of lemon juice

Slice up your chicken breast and mince it up in a food processor. Once the chicken is minced, add in all the above listed items and make sure that the chicken is fully incorporated so that the flavor is evenly spread out.

Next, take your chicken and make small balls out of it as shown in the image above. Half of the balls above are coated in breadcrumbs. It’s your choice wether you want to eat the healthier version or not. Here is how to make both versions..

Healthy tikki balls: Add oil to the bottom of the air fryer pan. Add in the chicken tikki balls and set the temperature to 350 degrees for 10-15 mins (keep checking to shake the tray and make sure the chicken is fully cooked).

Crispy tikki balls: Once you have the minced chicken shaped into balls, dip it into a bowl of one beaten egg (add more egg incase you run out). Now, dip the tikki into the breadcrumbs and make sure that the whole thing is coated in breadcrumbs. Add oil to the bottom of the air fryer pan. Add in the chicken tikki balls and set the temperature to 350 degrees for 10-15 mins (keep checking to shake the tray and make sure the chicken is fully cooked).

Great, now you can place these on a tray or wooden board. Some sauces that pair well with chicken tikki balls are siracha mayo, tomato chutney, cilantro dip, sweet & sour sauce or maggi sauce. Enjoy, don’t forget to comment below and share with friends!
